'I just wanted to drop you a note to say a big thank you. My first daughter was born by emergency C section after a fairly traumatic 44 hours of back to back birth. Iíve been fairly anxious about my second labour, and completed doubted that I could bear a child naturally. Well, a 2 hour labour and an entirely natural birth of our second daughter has proven me wrong! My second labour was no different to my first in particulars (back to back labour again) but this time I was much more relaxed and prepared, and because of that we were able to ensure we requested the support we needed to enable a natural birth too. I canít tell you how much the yoga techniques helped me to achieve this. From the inducing benefits of the squats to the contraction managing breathing exercises - absolutely invaluable. And don't get me started on the fabulous cookie recipesÖ A natural birth has been my number one goal, and I canít thank you enough for helping me to achieve this. I don't think iíve ever been more proud of myself!! I canít thank you enough.'

Baby Massage and Post-Natal Yoga

From 6 weeks old.

Fridays, 10:00 - 11:15am

Drop-in £15, voucher for 5, £65

Wear loose, comfortable clothes for your own yoga.
You might want to bring your baby in his/her sleepsuit, and dress him/her afterwards
(to avoid changing twice in one morning).
Bring two towels for the massage and a spare muslin for mopping up any unexpected wee.

Babies lie with us while we practice post natal yoga. We focus particularly on:-

Bringing awareness gently back to the abdominal area
Strengthening the abdomen from the deepest muscles with breath control (pranayama)
Gradually toning the pelvic floor
Special exercises for breast feeding mothers and
Reconnecting with your body.

After the hatha yoga, we move over to the massage area to massage our babies together.
This is often an intimate, bonding experience.

We finish each class with herbal tea and cakes/biscuits.
Often the babies will fall asleep while mothers chat.

Post Natal Yoga and Baby Yoga are interspersed throughout the class encouraging both mother and baby to be present in the body in order to understand and relate to each other. Classes combine flowing movement, songs, games, holds and lifts in a relaxed environment. The high quality physical stimulation a baby receives during a class helps him/her to sleep more soundly and to be more settled. Digestive and nervous systems are also stimulated contributing to a contented and healthy baby.
After class we have plenty of time for tea and biscuits, to make friends, ask for advice and share insights.
